Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to your questions about our insurance services.

The best way to ensure that you’re getting the cheapest insurance quotes online is to shop around. Because each business situation is unique, you’ll want to chat with an insurance professional who can access your needs and make the appropriate recommendations.

Make sure that you compare similar coverages across different types of insurance providers. One company might offer a cheaper rate, but not include as much coverage. If you already have coverage, use your existing policy as a jumping-off point.

Give us a call at (866) 671-5050 or fill out a callback form on our website to learn more about finding the right insurance quote online.

The best way to ensure that you’re getting the cheapest insurance quotes is to understand how prices are determined. Here is what insurance companies use to create your commercial truck insurance quotes:

  • Types of coverage you want/need;
  • Kind of cargo you haul;
  • Where you store and deliver cargo;
  • Models and number of vehicles in your fleet;
  • Driving records of those who drive your trucks;
  • Your company’s safety and inspection history.

You can further save money on your insurance rates by focusing on safe driving. Your company can implement programs focused on training and maintenance. A track record of safe driving can dramatically lower your insurance rates.

Every state requires at least some form of commercial liability for truck drivers. This is what is often referred to as minimum coverage. While carrying only liability will make sure you’re operating with the legal limits, you still may not be fully protected.

The exact kind of commercial truck insurance you need depends on your business, what you haul, how far away your route takes you, and who does the hauling. Your dispatcher may have specific requirements before they contract with you as well.

Insurance companies are going to look at several factors to determine your insurance quotes and availability. Here are some of the most common factors that go into consideration:

  • Your personal driving record or the driving histories of your employees;
  • Where your trucks are kept and whether that location is safe or not;
  • Legal liability requirements, depending on your business and state laws;
  • Types of risk incurred by your industry;
  • The age and condition of your vehicles;
  • The area in which your company does business.

Insurance companies are going to look at several factors to determine your insurance quotes and availability. Here are some of the most common factors that go into consideration:

  • Primary Liability covers damage you cause to others while operating your semi. This coverage does not pertain to damages made to your truck;
  • Physical Damage Coverage helps to repair or replace equipment that has been damaged during an accident or theft;
  • Non-Trucking Liability covers damages made to others while the truck is not under dispatch. For example, if you use your semi-truck to help a friend move and are involved in an accident;
  • Motor Truck Cargo covers your cargo. Insurance plans can restrict what and how the shipment is included, so make sure you find the appropriate policy. For a wide range of cargo coverage, look for something that covers your cargo regardless of the risk involved;
  • Truckers General Liability covers your actions while you are operating somewhere else; for example, if your driver is working on a loading dock. General liability also helps cover any mistakes made during the delivery of the cargo;
  • Trailer Interchange/Non-Owned Trailer is used when you are hauling a trailer that you don’t own. Sometimes there are agreements created called “trailer interchanges”;
  • Medical Payment Insurance helps cover medical payments if you or a passenger is injured while on the job. This coverage can vary from state to state;

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Insurance protects you in case someone else causes an accident but doesn’t have sufficient insurance to cover your losses.

If you disagree with the decision on your claim, you can request a further review. Contact your primary adjuster and provide any additional information or evidence that may support your case. Additionally, you may request a second opinion from a different adjuster within the insurance company.
